Hi! My name is Jake Dobkin. I'm the guy in those pictures below. I'm 31 years old, and I live in New York City with my wife and cat. This page is intended to tell you a little bit about me and my projects.
I am the publisher of Gothamist, a network of city websites. I also advise companies on internet and software projects. My specialty is information architecture and strategy, which is a fancy way of saying that I put together blueprints and plans for big projects.
In my spare time, I am an avid photographer. I enjoy taking pictures of architecture and urban landscapes. That work can be found at Bluejake, a photoblog I've been working on for about five years. I also love taking pictures of graffiti and streetart. Those pictures can be found at Streetsy.
I am also involved in other projects, such as NYC Photobloggers, a site devoted to supporting the NYC photoblogging community, and the Photobloggies, the annual awards for photoblogs. Every year I try to do at least a couple of small, personal projects. Here are a few: my wedding website, MPN 1991 (a complete archive of a humor magazine I edited at age 13), and a map of the places I've visited in my life. Right now, I'm working on a list of the books I've read since college.
